Unity-Skills — FAQ
What is Unity-Skills and how does it work?+
Unity-Skills is a REST API-based automation engine that exposes 805 Unity Editor operations as skills readable by AI assistants. It runs a local HTTP server inside Unity that AI agents call to perform scene editing, asset management, and project configuration tasks.
How do I install Unity-Skills in my Unity project?+
Add the package via Unity Package Manager using the Git URL https://github.com/Besty0728/Unity-Skills.git?path=/SkillsForUnity, then open Window > UnitySkills and start the server. Use the AI Config tab to one-click install skills for your preferred AI client (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, etc.).
Which AI clients and IDEs are supported?+
Unity-Skills natively supports Claude Code, Antigravity, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, and Kimi Code with one-click installers. Other AI tools supporting the Skills standard can use manual installation by copying the unity-skills~/ folder to their skill directory.
What Unity versions are required?+
The official maintenance baseline is Unity 2022.3 and later, including Unity 6. Some Unity 2021 compatibility logic may remain but is not actively tested or supported.
Is Unity-Skills free to use?+
Yes, Unity-Skills is open source and licensed under the MIT License, available for free commercial and personal use. The bundled UI font uses the separate SIL Open Font License 1.1.
How do permission modes and audit logging work?+
Three modes control execution: Approval requires user confirmation, Auto blocks high-risk operations automatically, and Bypass runs all skills unrestricted. Every operation is logged to Library/UnitySkillsAudit.jsonl with timestamps, parameters, and outcomes, and you can roll back individual tasks using persistent snapshots.
