brigade
Brigade — Your personal intelligence, built enterprise-grade
Brigade is an enterprise-grade, self-hosted AI agent framework that runs locally with no cloud dependencies or telemetry. It provides a crew of coordinated AI agents with shared long-term memory (Tideline), organizational hierarchies, and multi-channel access (terminal, WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord). Developers can deploy isolated agents with per-agent workspaces, credentials, and approval gates, all stored under a single ~/.brigade/ directory with optional at-rest encryption.

What is Brigade?+
Brigade is a self-hosted AI agent framework that provides a crew of coordinated agents with shared long-term memory, organizational hierarchies, and multi-channel access—all running locally with no cloud dependencies.
How do I install Brigade?+
On macOS/Linux, run 'curl -fsSL https://brigade.spinabot.com/install.sh | sh' which installs Node if needed. On Windows PowerShell, run 'irm https://brigade.spinabot.com/install.ps1 | iex'. If you already have Node 22.12+, install via 'npm i -g @spinabot/brigade'.
Does Brigade require API keys?+
No API key is required if you sign in with an existing Claude Pro/Max, ChatGPT Plus/Pro, or GitHub Copilot subscription via 'brigade login', or reuse your Claude Code/Codex CLI login. You can also provide API keys for Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, OpenRouter, and other providers, or use local Ollama models.
Which AI clients work with Brigade?+
Brigade is a standalone agent framework accessed via its own terminal TUI, WebSocket gateway, and channel adapters. It can expose its memory as an MCP server to other clients via 'brigade mcp', and supports subscription-based authentication for Claude, ChatGPT, and Copilot.
Is Brigade free and open source?+
Yes, Brigade is MIT-licensed open-source software with no telemetry, no SaaS component, and no account creation. All code and data stay on your machine.
How does multi-agent coordination work?+
Brigade lets you define an organizational chart with agents in departments and reporting lines. An agent-to-agent policy governs which agents can message each other, and agents can spawn sub-agents with depth and fan-out limits for parallel task delegation.
